Diamond and Emerald Lavaliere
This vintage platinum lavaliere is the perfect compliment to our ear pendants.
Suspended from a pavé Diamond chain, the elegant drop features a 3.50 carat cushion cut Diamond, a 3.00 carat emerald cut “Old Mine” Emerald and a spectacular 6.50 carat pear shape Diamond. Circa 1925.
Around 1900, necklaces were extremely fashionable. Many different styles of necklace made their debut during this time. One distinctive style of necklace, the Lavalliere, consisted of a simple chain necklet supporting a pear-shaped or drop pendant. It is believed that this style of pendant derives its name from Louise de la Valiere, a mistress of Louis XV.
The actual design of the pendant varied with each necklace, as in this exquisite example containing three magnificent stones.

Diamond and Platinum stiletto ear pendants
Two incredible matched pairs of cushion-cut diamonds are seductively suspended on a delicate string of brilliant diamonds. The cushion cut stones weigh a total of 9.75 carats and are all GIA Certified. The earrings are signed S. H. Silver Company 11704.
The cushion cut is an antique cut that most often resembles a cross between the Old Mine Cut (a cut that was common in the late 19th and the early 20th centuries) and a modern oval cut. This shape is also sometimes referred to as the pillow-cut or the candlelight diamond (a reference to cuts designed prior to electric lights, when diamonds sparkled in the light provided by candles). Though the cushion cut is not as fiery or brilliant as many of the newer cuts, it’s soft brilliance has an elegantly romantic and classic look.
It is unusual to find a matched pair of large cushions, but these earrings containing two matched pairs of spectacular stones definitely stands out from the crowd.
